CUE deadline approaching

In response to Ari's email (reproduced below) I have created a shared document on Google for anyone who wants to work on this.

Dear Metaphor,

A few weeks ago Brian posted to the WIAM blog about an open call from CUE Art Foundation. From the looks of it, they're asking for proposals that are very close to what we already do. CUE would offer an operational budget of $2,000, and most-importantly, it would give us a consistent venue to hold our class (a month-long exhibition could be like 4 sessions)! The only pressure is that submissions are due on 3/31, so we would need to get a plan in motion, pronto! In addition to a short descriptive text, we would need to submit a budget, 1-5 images (of what?), and $10.

Beyond a weekly class session, we would need to figure out other ways to utilize the space over the course of the exhibition. One idea that I've been mulling over is to build a classroom/lecture hall in the gallery (projector, screen, whiteboard, lectern, chairs, etc) and present a day-long lecture series. Lecture slots would be open to anyone in the greater WIAM community. Participants would deliver a succession of short (ten minute?) presentations ranging from personal narrative (traditional-style, artist lectures), to external observations (research-in-the-field-of...), to more abstract presentations (dare I say, "performance?"). The entire event could be filmed, and that documentation could then be displayed within the same installation for the remainder of the exhibition.

What other ideas are floating around the Metaphorical ether? Is this a conversation worth continuing on Tues? In the meantime, let's start some good old e-blast debate! Below is the original posting from CUE's website.

Fondly,
Ari
